A Chinese woman is now receiving major backlash from netizens after a troubling video of her made rounds online. In the said video, a young boy, apparently the Chinese woman’s own son, had been tied to the rear end of a scooter while she rode the vehicle around Southwest China, dragging the poor boy behind.

According to a report by Daily Mail, the boy was heard by passersby crying out loudly as her mother dragged him along the streets of Zhaotong, Yunnan Province. Furthermore, an onlooker who happened to stumble upon the disturbing sight (and also appeared to have taken the video that went viral) tried to stop the Chinese woman, but to no avail.

Apparently, the onlooker even got told off by the Chinese woman, who said she was simply teaching her son the repercussions of being naughty. She also confirmed that she was indeed the young boy’s mother, and that she has been punishing the young boy for the past 2-3 days already.

This scene clearly horrified the netizens. They instantly condemned the Chinese woman, saying she was actually guilty of child abuse, as dragging a young boy behind a moving motorcycle could no longer constitute proper disciplining. Some worried that this incident might cause psychological damage to the boy in the long run. Others even went as far as to assert that the Chinese woman should lose custody of the kid, and should even spend time behind bars.
