Some cried animal abuse over the amusing video. Others claimed that no rodent can ever lather shampoo or soap on its own body, so it is safe to assume that a person intentionally applied the suds on the animal. Furthermore, some people were also worried about the large rat’s safety because of the chemicals in the soap.
In an informative Science lecture, Youtube Science channel Kurzgesagt explained that humans and animals do not experience element exposure in the same way. This is primarily due to the discrepancy between their sizes.
When humans get wet, they accumulate an average of 800 grams of water in your body, which is equivalent to 1% of their body mass.
However, smaller animals such as rats are affected by cohesion and the force of surface tension. This can harm the large rat in the video:
“A wet mouse has about 3 grams of water sticking to it, which is more than 10% of its body weight. Imagine having eight full water bottles sticking to you when you leave the shower.”
That being said, it is safe to say that no matter how amused we are of the video, the large rat definitely did not like it. Even if he appears enjoying the bath, science claims that he may not have enjoyed it that much.
