According to a report by Deutsche Welle, this certain preference in male children had resulted in around “63 million women statistically missing,” and this cultural preference prompted some Indians to exercise female feticide. This often leads to shocking situations such as this horrendous incident in Bhopal, India.

A newborn baby girl was reportedly found inside a trash bin where she was covered in a red polybag full of ants. The poor infant was rescued from such nightmare by a local tea stall owner in Bhopal, India, Dheeraj Rathore.

The citizen rescued the suffering baby after her cries were heard. “I was passing through the bin when I heard the cries of a baby. I was shocked to see an infant’s head sticking out of a red polybag in a garbage vat among the bushes.” He also said that ants were swarming the helpless child, so he and his friends cleaned the infant’s body and wrapped her in a cloth.

“Ants were all over her head and body.” Police officers in the state of Madhya Pradesh believed that she was abandoned by her parents because she was not a boy. Dheeraj immediately took the suffering baby, who only weighed 3.5lbs, to a nearby hospital wherein she was declared to be in a critical state.

The baby’s fragile body manifested multiple bruises, as per a medical staff. This may indicate that the child suffered from physical abuse before she was abandoned. “When she was brought to the hospital, she had multiple injury marks on her body.”

The police officers are now in search for some information which may eventually lead them to the perpetrators of this grisly crime.
