Two weeks ago, Franco passed away due to drowning after he reportedly fell from the motorized boat he rode with his girlfriend and a fellow Hashtags member. His body was rescued, but he was already unconscious. He was then rushed to the nearest hospital, but the doctors pronounced him dead.
This was the reason why a number of people were angered by Joey de Leon’s post. A netizen even called him out on social media for lacking “common sense” and “open-mindedness.” An excerpt from the angry netizen’s post said:
“Hindi ka pa po ba nadala sa mga issues na kinasangkutan mo? I mean, madami ka nang ginagawang ganyan. You keep on posting sa social media na hindi mo man lang pinag iisipan or sadyang sinasadya mo lang talaga.”
“It’s Showtime” host and musician Teddy Corpuz’s latest tweet is believed to be pertaining to Joey’s “insensitive” statement. He said:
The Hashtags member Paulo Angeles, on the other hand, did not hold back from spewing his thoughts on his official Twitter account. He wrote:
Joey de Leon has apologized for his comment about depression, but he hasn’t given an official statement in regard to this new controversy.
Meanwhile, the veteran comedian’s co-host Paolo Ballesteros recently spoke out about this matter. He also mentioned that Joey de Leon must have been unaware of the incident. In an interview with the press during the promotion of his new movie Trip Ubusan, Paolo said:
PAOLO BALLESTEROS NAG REACT DIN SA POST NA "NUKNUKAN NG KATANGAHAN" NI JOEY DE LEON!
