JORDANIAN CELEBRITY INULAN NG MGA BATIKOS MATAPOS LAIT-LAITIN AT PAGTAWANAN ANG PANANALITA NG PINAY!

Languages is a natural product of human intervention. It is created and altered through constant social interaction. English, for instance, is considered the international language, and many of us obliged to learn it for global commerce. In the process of learning, it is natural to incorporate aspects of our own language. However, a Jordanian celebrity named Mais Handam received a lot of hate after she made fun of a Filipina’s accent she encountered in Dubai.

A lot of Filipinos expressed resent as they got offended by her insensitive jokes. She demonstrated during her guesting in a national TV show “Lahonwbas” a scenario where she heard a Filipina supposedly talking to a customer in Dubai.

The conversation goes:

“How are you Ma’am and Sir?”
“Good morning!”
“How are you today?”
“Marry Christmas.” (instead of Merry Christmas)
“Ma’am, today we have a new collaction.” (which should be collection)
“You can buy everything at 50%. Ma’am, we that one in black and that one in yellow.”
“No Ma’am, we don’t have red in that one. If you want that one Ma’am,I will call my supervisor, and get from the other store. I will ask that one.”
“Ma’am, if you come back tomorrow, that 50% will finish.”
“Ma’am, you’re so pretty.”
“Oh, my God, she is so pretty.”

Mais Hamdan even imitated how the Filipina pronounced some of the words. This caused laughter among the studio audiences, which triggered many Filipinos who admitted they were distressed by the joke.

Meanwhile, some netizens pointed out that this was all in the spirit of good fun.

Needless to say, a joke that is used as an insult at the expense of others will never be considered funny.
