McGregor made his swapped the Octagon for the ring last August when he took on Floyd Mayweather in a blockbuster showdown. Irishman McGregor put up a brave fight, but he couldn’t prevent Mayweather from securing a record-breaking 50th career win.

McGregor enjoyed a huge pay, earning £77million from the contest. Pacquiao meanwhile, who ended up his brief retirement last year, is on the lookout for a mega fight. And he has taken to Instagram in an effort to tease McGregor into fighting him.

He posted a picture of the UFC lightweight champion and the caption read: “Happy Thanksgiving! Stay fit my friend. #realboxingmatch #2018 @thenotoriousmma.” Should McGregor and Pacquiao go ahead, it would be one of the most lucrative fights in boxing.

Australian promoter Dean Lonergan recently tried to push the idea of a McGregor vs Pacquiao bout. He said: “We’d love to have Manny Pacquiao down here (again), he’s certainly one of the guys on the table.  “There’s been some murmurings and rumblings that perhaps we could get Conor McGregor down here. 

“I would put the challenge out to Conor McGregor — tell me how much you want it and we’ll see if we can make it work.”
