Jollibee became a trending topic recently upon the release of their heartwarming Valentine’s Day ads on their Facebook page. Unfortunately, the good publicity of this fast food empire was suddenly cut short due to a controversy they were involved in yesterday morning.

A concerned netizen posted a video on his personal Facebook page of an incident which occurred in Jollibee Novatierra. The footage showed a mom arguing with the Jollibee crew of the said branch. According to the caption of the post, the 3-year-old child of the woman in the video got into an accident when piping hot chocolate spilled all over the tiny tot.

The 4-minute video showed the young girl’s mom screaming inside the fast food chain out of fury. Apparently, she was getting mad at the crew who was supposed to serve the hot choco drink to another customer. Then, her husband, who was just as mad at the employees, slammed a tray on the counter. Another customer who was ordering at the counter at the time seemed to have interjected. For a while, the couple was exchanging words with him. The man and the girl’s father even came close to each other as if they were about to fight, had it not been for the security guard who cut in.

All the while, the girl could be heard wailing out of pain and fear. As her irked parents were trying to calm her down, the staff could be seen cleaning up the mess. Afterwards, a stranger who happened to have a handkerchief, offered it to them. At this point, no employees could be seen approaching the family involved.Then, the three decided to leave the fast food chain, perhaps so they could rush the 3-year-old child to the clinic. Before they left, the mother shouted the words:“Babalik kami. I will sue you!”

It was unclear as to what started the accident. According to the aforementioned netizen, the young girl reached the tray carrying the hot choco on the counter, which is why it spilled all over her. However, this detail has yet to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, another concerned netizen went viral after she aired out her two cents on the Jollibee incident and revealed a different side of the story. The Facebook status has since been removed, but intrigued social media users were quick to take a screenshot.

According to her, the crew was supposed to deliver two cups of hot chocolate drinks to a customer. While he was on his way, another customer asked for a plastic knife. He then went to the counter to retrieve the item. At the time, the kid was choosing a Kiddie meal toy. When the crew took a turn to finally serve the orders, he and the 3-year-old child bumped into each other, causing the hot drink to spill. Moreover, she argued that the parents shouldn’t be blamed for the unfortunate incident.

She also took note of how the crew prioritized cleaning the mess rather than coming to the aid of the girl. Finally, she called out the netizen who first uploaded the video, and claimed that his status was “misleading”.
