According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, this condition is defined as “a type of facial paralysis that results in an inability to control the facial muscles on the affected side.
” Bell’s Palsy is caused by a defect or dysfunction in the cranial nerve VII or what is commonly known as the facial nerve. Essentially, one side of the face has difficulty moving its muscles.
A characterization of this paralysis is the one-sided facial droop that Angelu is very familiar with. This symptom is reported to be slightly noticeable on the actress especially since she is now on a new GMA-7 project called “Stepdaughters.”
Naturally, Angelu is conscious of it but the actress is happy that she’s recovering well.
“Ako talaga minsan yung naku-conscious, specially may panahon na siyempre, pagod ka na sa taping at kailangan mo pang umiyak ng 1:30 in the morning, yung mga gano’n. Kasi doon siya nag-aapekto.”
“Parang slowly now after a year, medyo mas nagre-recover na akong mabuti. Medyo hindi na masyadong nahahalata.”
Sadly, she still hears a lot of people talking about it. Some netizens, who are probably fans of the actress, speak about her condition with understanding and compassion. However, there are also those who could care less. Angelu said that she doesn’t mind it at all because she draws strength from her faith.
“One thing I know, kung anuman yung sinabi nila, nasabi ko na rin sa sarili ko. I think my strength relies on my faith in God.
Minsan tinatanong ko pa si God. Kung yun talaga ang will Mo, wala naman akong magagawa. I only submit to His will.”
ANGELU DE LEON, TALAGANG PATULOY NA LUMALABAN SA KANYANG MALUBHANG KARAMDAMAN NGAYON!
