A 7-year-old boy from China touched the heart of many netizens as photos of him consoling his sister before her surgery went viral on social media.

In the facebook page China Daily, 7-year-old Zhao Wenan was consoling his sister who is suffering from lacerated kidney and looks like about to undergo a medical procedure as she is lying on a hospital cot.

According to Medicine Net, lacerated kidney happens when the organ is severely injured or torn. It can be as mild as a bruise on the kidney that causes minimal damage or the kidney can be shattered and torn from its pedicle. A lacerated kidney describes a literal tear of the kidney tissue that may or may not cause urine to leak where it doesn't belong. Symptoms can vary and mild damage may initially show no symptoms, abdominal pain on palpation, blood in the urine, nausea or vomiting, changes in blood pressure and pulse, and shock which may lead to unconsciousness.

The most common cause could be impacts to the abdomen, especially the lower back area, falling, car accidents and physical attacks. It could be treated depends on the extent of the damage. Minor lacerations may only require observation to check that the kidney is still functioning efficiently. But in more serious cases, surgery may be required.

Meanwhile, netizens expressed their admiration to the boy and were truly touched by the boy’s love for his sister.
