On Dec. 12, 2017, a pair of mother and daughter were found dead at their own house in General Trias, Cavite. According to a previous report, they were found by an OFW, Marlon Gamos. The brutal case of the mother-daughter slay has prompted Gamos to appeal to President Rodrigo Duterte for help.

He shared in an interview with ABS-CBN:“Di ko alam, nagpapakahirap kami sa pangingibang bansa para sa kanila … bakit gano’n naman ‘yong ginawa nila?”

The father immediately went to the morgue after arriving in the country from the United Arab Emirates. According to the autopsies conducted, his wife suffered traumatic injuries on the head while his daughter was suffocated to death.

According to a recent report by ABS-CBN News, the suspect in the mother-daughter slay has finally surrendered to the authorities. The name of the suspect is Ruel Galvan Cabatingan, who admitted that he murdered Ruby Gamos and her seven-year-old daughter.

According to Senior Superintendent William Segun, Cabatingan might have been a childhood friend and a boyfriend of the murdered wife. The suspect hid in Eastern Samar since he had relatives in the region.

The suspect failed to provide clear intentions or motivations, according on the authorities’ investigation.Senior Supt. Tranquilino Araral III said to DZMM, “Ang sinabi niya, he did it, pinatay niya iyung dalawa by choking.”

Meanwhile, the Cavite police are slated to retrieve Cabatingan from the Eastern Samar police. Previous testimonies from the neighbors of the Gamoses revealed that the suspect regularly visited the mentioned family’s residence.

In an earlier report from the same source, authorities discovered semen in Ruby’s bedsheet. Segun disclosed:

“Prior to the incident magkasama itong dalawa. May nakitang semen sa bed-sheet ng bahay ni Ruby na nagpapatunay na hindi lang si Ruby ang tao doon. Walang indication na pinilit si Ruby.”

He added that Ruby and Cabatingan also rented a house in Alapan, Imus for several times from January to June 2017. Jealousy was considered as the suspect’s motive for the mother-daughter slay.
