Adrianne and Jason Stewart were browsing photos of kids to adopt online and stumble upon this photo of Maria. The couple instantly fell in love to this photo of Maria because of her priceless smile which they instantly fell in love with.

Maria seemed to have the perfect smile and a beautiful face but she was born without limbs. Despite this lack, the Stewart couple decided to adopt her and bring her to Utah to live with them along with their two daughters and an adopted Filipino son.

The process took a year for the couple to bring home Maria. All the waiting paid off when Maria started living with the Stewarts.

Maria brought happinness to the family and taught each members not to feel disappointed by things we do not have and to not take for granted the things we have.

“She has made each of us better. She has taught us to find joy in small things, to not be sad or disappointed by what we don’t have, and to not take for granted the things we do have,” Adrianne revealed.

Now, Maria is busy with school and can do a lot of things all by herself through the aid of her customized wheel chair and mouthpiece designed by her dentist so she could use her mouth to grip pens.

Meanwhile, the entire Stewart family is currently facing their biggest challenge yet as their adoptive son Joshua was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia with 65 percent chance of survival.

Despite this, Maria remained strong for her brother and loves visiting him in the hospital to give him joy and courage to fight his battle.
