While it’s lovely imagining ‘happily ever after’ and the thought of spending the rest of your life with the one you love, sorry for breaking it to you but the real world isn’t all about fairy tales and forever. Unfortunately, the events in the classic flick “Runaway Bride” have happened in real life. Such was the case with this couple who called off their wedding and aired their dirty laundry on “Raffy Tulfo in Action.”

Jim Paul Tan and Claire Villavieja were supposed to tie the knot on January 20, 2017. However, their relationship hit a snag after a series of quarrels and issues they both faced before their supposed wedding. When asked why their wedding was called off, Jim said that Claire lacked time for him. The radio show then called the supposed bride and she was heard crying her heart out. She told Paul:

“Tapos ngayon sasabihin mo ako yung gusting umatras? Sino ba sa ‘tin nagdadalawang isip na magpakasal? Tapos sasabihin mo kay mama na ako lang ang may gustong magpakasal sayo? Kapal ng mukha mo! Habol ako nang habol, Jim. Sobrang sakit ng ginawa mo!”.“Hindi lang pamilya ko, lahat pati mga tao sa Pilipinas, gusto mo marinig nila anong ginawa mo sa ‘kin? Nakakainis ka!”

Claire’s mother attested to her statement. Jim then said that Claire backing out was the reason why the matrimonial ceremony was canceled. However, Claire stated that she understood it when Jim was the one who had no time for her. She added that she lacked time because she was busy doing preparations for their wedding, i.e. the handling reception, reserving the church, picking out the food, etc.

Moreover, Claire revealed that the money that Jim gave for their supposed wedding was insufficient which made her even busier because she had to procure the adequate amount. They also disclosed that they were in a long-distance relationship, and Jim could not go visit her in Zamboanga because he’s currently unemployed.

Raffy then asked Claire if she still wanted their wedding to push through, but she apologetically answered “no.” She also alleged that Jim had an affair and even got the other woman pregnant. This was denied by Jim who told Claire that they already discussed this matter in the past. Jim then accused Claire of having an attitude problem, describing her as “mataray.” He told Raffy:

“Sir, tingnan mo, tama po ba to ah? Humihingi ako sa kanya lately ng oras. Sabi ko [sa kanya], ‘Pahingi ako ng time mo kasi wala ka ngang time sa ‘kin.’ Tama ba isasagot sa ‘kin, ‘I-full time ko yung oras ko sayo, bigyan mo akong another PHP 100,000 para sa kasal natin.’ Kasi kulang na kulang daw.”

Jim explained that he wanted a simple wedding, the opposite of what Claire wanted. While it’s somewhat traditional in the Philippines for the man to pay for the wedding, Jim said that he and Claire decided that both of them will shoulder the financial burden. Since the ceremony was aborted, Jim wants his money back to pay for his friends and relatives’ plane tickets.

The two then made a deal that Jim would be paid PHP 51,000. As of the latest update, Claire has already placed PHP 20,000 in his account and guaranteed that she would settle the remaining PHP 31,000 soon.
